Ishik Delegates were in the Bologna Process Research Congress!

On September 17-18, 2015, President Prof. Dr. Ahmet Öztaş, Vice-president Dr. Muhammed Özdemir and Dean of Education Faculty Dr. Suleyman Çelik participated in the 1st Bologna Process Research Congress in Ankara in Turkey.

The Bologna Process is a European intergovernmental process which aims to establish a European standard in higher education and to create a European Higher Education Area (EHEA) based on international co-operation and academic exchange.

The Congress started with the opening speech of the chairperson, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maviş Emel. On the first day of the congress information regarding requirements and procedures for Joining the Bologna Process, and implementation of Bologna Process in Turkey and European countries was provided. On the second day of the congress general requirements for accreditation was supplied.

Today, the Process unites 47 countries – all party to the European Cultural Convention and committed to the goals of the European Higher Education Area. An important characteristic of the Bologna Process – and key to its success – is that it also involves European Commission, Council of Europe and UNESCO-CEPES, as well as representatives of higher education institutions, students, staff, employers and quality assurance agencies.

The aim of the Bologna process is thus to make the higher education systems in Europe converge towards a more transparent system, which whereby the different national systems would different national systems would use a common framework use a common framework based on three cycles – Degrees: •Bachelor/license, •Master •Doctorate/PhD.

Ishik University in the near future is planning to apply to become a member of Bologna Process to increase the quality of education and research.
