Fire Drill on the Campus

Health and Safety Committee of Ishik University, in cooperation with Dr. Karzan Mohammad the project designer performed an evacuation drill with a fake fire alarm system with the response of the governmental sectors Erbil Traffic Police, Erbil Police, Sardam Hospital, Nawroz Fire Station on May 7th, 2017.

There was a fake fire alarm at 10:00 a.m. in the main building of Ishik University in order to train staff and students how to act during emergencies and fire. Students and staff were directed by 25 volunteer students with known vests to use the fire exits. All other exits and elevators were locked and shut. The crowd was directed to the public area outside the building. The event was to memorize the International Day of Health and Safety at any workplace.

The firefighters acted first to extinguish the fire in the main building in a very short period of time, and then the staff of the ambulance took care of the injured persons. Afterwards, the police examined the cameras and found the responsible individual who ignited the fire and took him to the police station with the help of Erbil Traffic Police Station.

Hopefully the training was successfully conducted without any accident.
