Ishik University has held its Spring Festival under the name of Spring Festival of Language, Culture and Science on April, 12th, 2017 with a large participant. The festival started at 10:30 in the morning with the opening speech of Dr. Idris Hadi Head of Board of Trustees. He stressed the importance of such social and cultural activities as well as giving brief info as to significance of Spring (Bahar) in the culture and history of Kurdistan.
The Festival had scientific and culture stands from all academic departments such as mathematics, interior design, computer engineering, law, ELT, architecture, biology, civil engineering, IT, physics, business, accounting, and IR. There was a Kurdish song by students with folklore. Kurdish and kobary dance by the Ashurian students were also presented in the festival. The tent stands of the festival were from the following countries and cultures: France, Egypt, Germany, Japan, Turkey, South Korea, India, United Arab Emirates, Russia, United Kingdom, America, Arabs, Kurds, Turkmen and Assyrians. By means of their tents, all participants had had the chance to get information of 15 different cultures of the world and met their languages.
The festival had prominent guests; Dr. Muhammad Saber General Manager of Ministry of Higher Education, and Dr. Jamal Kamal Supervisor of Private Universities in Kurdistan, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Oztas President of Ishik University, Dr. Ahmad Anwar Dizayee President of Salahadin University. Furthermore, the festival hosted, as well, consulate officials; Kamaran Ahmad Deputy Director of French Institute, Lila Tam Educational Coordinator for the Language Classes at the French Institute, Dler Ahmad Public Affairs Specialist’s of American Consulate in Erbil and Reving Mizory Education Advisor of American Consulate in Erbil, and Chandar Parkash (Commercial & Culture) Consulate General of India in Erbil. The President of Kirkuk University was another honorary guest of the festival. However, French citizens who live in Erbil participated in the festival.
