The International Visible Conference on Educational Studies & Applied Linguistics (VESAL 2018) was held at Ishik University in Collaboration with Salahaddin University for the 9th year in a row. VESAL is an international platform for researchers, teachers, teacher educators, ESL researchers, curriculum designers, and policy makers. VESAL aims at bringing knowledge producers, practitioners, and policy-makers together on a shared platform of talks and dialogues.
This year’s conference started with a Welcome Dinner for all the researchers on April 28th in Salahaddin University’s Culture Center. And on April 29th, that is the conference day; it started with an Opening Ceremony was Held at Ishik University campus.
The conference was honored by the presence of the presidents of both Ishik University Dr. Idris Hadi Salih, and Salahaddin University Dr. Ahmed Dizayee. Representative from the Ministry of Higher Education Dr. Muhammed Sabir and Dr. Noori Harzany, along with the representative from British Council also attended and talked to the conference audience.
Dr. Suleyman Celik the Chair of the conference and The Dean of The Faculty of Education introduced the conference and shed some lights on the important role VESAL is taking in directing educational trends in the region. Sessions of keynote speeches opened and the first keynote speaker Asst. Prof. Dr. Azamat Akbarov presented keynote.
After that the sessions started by the researchers. Researchers from different countries presented 60 different papers to the participants. The second keynote speech was by Dr. Nisreen Ameen, an Associate Lecturer at London School of Business and Management in the UK.
The conference was concluded with a workshop by the British Council | Life Skills Examiner Ian Clive Shears in which he talked Speaking Assessment issues in English as a Second Language.
